Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests

Hope you are having a blessed week thus far.  Here are our prayer requests for this week:

1.  Alice Jones - Gayle's mom, had multiple tests on Monday and the ultrasound of her
          abdomen revealed a number of gallstones.  Still waiting on the final results of all
           tests, but she did pass the stress test.  Continued prayer for there to be a treatable
           answer to her symptoms and a minimally invasive resolution.
2.  Pam Lister - continued prayer that she will be able to let go and let God work.
3.  Pam Eubanks - prayer that God will open a door for her Dad to find a job.  Prayers for
            him as he waits.
4.  Chris Howard - Lauren traveling, as well as, Jim and Chris traveling today.  Prayers
           for travel mercies.


Praises:

1.  Pam Eubanks - traveled to Goldsboro for her Aunt's funeral and unknown to her at the
             time, the van was leaking oil the whole way.  Trip should have blown the engine
             on the van, but when she arrived at her parents home, there was still oil in the
             engine. 
             - neighbors grill caught fire, could have caught the building on fire, but neighbors
               where able to quickly put the fire out.
              Both were great opportunities to talk with the kids about God's protection and
              provision!

2.  Jim Howard - for the visible signs of his sisters' salvation.
