Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise \ Prayer Requests

Hope each of you are doing well.  Below are our prayer requests for this week:
 
1.  Archie Dinglasan - will be traveling on the 14th to be with family.  His sister has cancer
             and has come off of chemo.  Family is gathering to spend time together and his
            family is not saved and will hold gatherings that are contrary to our belief in Christ.
             Archie will be alone and will not partake in these gatherings, so pray for the Holy
            Spirit to shield him and for him to be a witness for Christ.
2.  Pam Lister's parents and family - family struggling as they work through the emotions
                surrounding Mom & Dad's deteriorating health.
3.  Duffield's and Yokley's have kids trying out for sports - pray for safety for all kids
            involved in sports.
4.  Maria - friend of Jen Yokley's, previously lost her Mom and now her Dad, pray for the
          Holy Spirit to soften her heart towards the Gospel.
 
 
Praises:
 
1.  Heather - Scott Blum's niece whom we had covered in prayer during her recent health
              issues related to her heart.  She and her husband brought home their newly adopted
              baby this past week.
2.  Lauren Howard - is enjoying her new school and everything is going very well.
 
 
Reminders:
 
1.  Ladies Retreat - final registration is Sept 8th
2.  Marriage Retreat - 9/20-22, we will be finalizing reservations shortly, be reading the
           materials.
3.  3rd Saturday - scheduled for 9/21
