Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise \ Prayer Requests

Praying that each of you has a very blessed week.  Below are our prayer requests for this week:
 
1.  Jordan - works with Allen Smith, has health and other issues, Allen shared the gospel
         with him.  Pray that the Holy Spirit will move in Jordan.
2.  Katherine - Allyson's daughter is moving for college, pray that she will make the
           right decisions.
3.  Goff's and Terrill's - prayers for their children who are starting school.  Safety and
              wise decision making.
4.  Pam Lister - prayers for her family, Mom has Alzheimer's and Dad is in heart failure
           and has COPD.  Praise that they have a health care giver coming in for Mom
           who understands Alzheimer's and that Dad has accepted Jesus as his savior.
5.  Jamie - Jodi's sister, stabbed her hand last week cutting an avocado, she is a diabetic
            so wounds do not heal quickly, having issues with the feeling in her fingers.  Prayers
            for healing and recovery.
6.  Doris - Robin Bowe's Aunt, having surgery on Tuesday to remove part of her colon and
                intestines.  Prayers for her Aunt, the surgeons, nurses and that everything will
                go well.
7.  Annie Carson - First Lady of Olive Branch Baptist, having eye surgery on Thursday.
             Prayers for Mrs. Annie, the surgeons, nurses and that everything will go well.
8.  Sam -  has an interview for a position that will get him out of retail.  Prayers that
                   he will have the right panel of interviewers.
9.  Patti Terrill and Katie Powers - Bible study did not start last week as planned, many
                issues, so prayers that the Holy Spirit will move as they take a new approach.
10. Teresa & Tori Smith - spending the week at the beach, prayers for safety and that
            Allen will remember to make up the bed next Saturday : ).
 
Praise:
 
1.  Jessica - 35 year old that was diagnosed with a brain tumor, doctor's are now saying
            that it is highly likely that it is benign.  They are running more tests, if it proves to
            be benign, then they will not pursue surgery.  Please continue to pray over this.

             will be attending.
