Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise \ Prayer Requests

Praying that this finds each of you having a great week.  Below are our prayer requests for this week:
 
1.  Family of Robert - lost his battle with cancer, prayers for the family.
2.  Kaitlyn - 20 years old and is lost and needs to find the Lord.  Pray for salvation.
3.  Kenneth & Kathy Fowler - Anthony Lile's uncle, has cancer, prayers for him and
                 for the family.
4.  Helen Brown - walking the Appalachian Trail Wed thru Sunday, prayers for safety.
5.  Patti Terrill and Katie Powers - hosting a bible study for girls who do not know Jesus.
           Pray that Patti and Katie will be transparent and the Holy Spirit will speak thru them.
6.  Jessica - 35 years old and has a mass on her brain.  Pray for her and her family.  Praise
               in this situation that her daughter has accepted Jesus.
7.  Collison's - traveling to spend time with Mom.  Prayers for safety and that the visit
             will go well, that everyone will hold together despite the circumstances.  Prayers
             for her Mom's battle with cancer.
8.  Frye's - spiritual wisdom as they help with a situation with a friend's daughter.
9.  Jimmy & Jessica Howard - were traveling last weekend.  Praise that despite the fact
            that Jessica's pregnancy was high risk, that she has encountered no problems. 
            Continued prayers that everything will continue to go well.
10.  Doris - Aunt of Robin Bowes', has a mass in her colon and she is unsaved.  Prayers
               for salvation and for healing.
11.  Jodi Duffield's Sister - attempting to cut an avocado yesterday and stabbed her hand.
              Cannot feel her middle finger and most of her ring finger.  Prayers for healing
              and recovery.
12.  Mike - my brother, finalizing his divorce after a long and tumultuous marriage.  Prayers
                for God to reveal His plan in this.

1.  8/10 - Olive Branch Baptist, ice cream following luncheon for their youth rally.  Events
            throughout the morning, if you want to assist, touch base with Clay and Tess. 
            Otherwise, be at the church by 12:30 for setup.
