Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests

Sorry for the delay, but this week just got away from me.  Below are our prayer requests for this week:
1.  Mission trips - Boston, next Ukraine team will be departing soon.  Pray for safety
        and spreading of the gospel.
2.  Ewert's - traveling to Moldova for training of missionaries.  Pray for safety for
           everyone attending in traveling to/from and during the training.
3.  Isabel - Beth Lessner's Grandmother, having foot surgery to restore blood
         flow to prepare her for the surgery necessary for her foot.  Pray for
         salvation for grandma, that the surgery will go well, for safety for Beth and
         the boys as they travel to see her and for safety for the boys as they will be
         traveling back by themselves.
4.  Brian - friend of Sean Smith, his dad has bladder cancer and 30 days ago
          was told he was in remission, last week found out the cancer is back. 
          Brian is Jewish, so be in prayer for salvation and for the family as they go
          through this emotional roller coaster.
5.  Jean - Rheta Teresko's mom, we have been praying for her recovery from the
           stroke she had a couple of weeks ago.  Continued prayer for her recovery
           and for Rheta and other caregivers.
6.  Val - friend of Tess, fell and had to have 13 stitches in her head, has broken
           ribs and a collapsed lung.  Pray for her recovery and her financial well
           being as she is a flight attendant and is unable to fly due to the collapsed
           lung.
7.  Susan - co-worker of Helen Brown, is an agnostic and her dad died recently.
           Pray for a softening of her heart towards discussions about the gospel.
Praises:
1.  Dorris Huffstetler that we had been praying for her recovery from a mental
      breakdown is now recovering and sounds like a totally new person!
2.  Clay's sister & brother-in-law, Patty and Brent, discussion with their church
        about their teaching and influence went very well.
3.  Avery Goff and the rest of the first Ukraine mission team made it home safely!
Reminders:
1.  July 20th - Live.Love.Serve, our project is on our 3rd Saturday and will involve
           a roofing project and promotion of an event at Olive Branch Baptist.  Meet
           at Olive Branch at 8 AM for the roofing project.
2.  July 19th-20th - Breakfast & Lunch for the medical clinic.  Sign-up sheet
            went around on Sunday morning, if you can help and did not get a
            chance to sign-up, get in touch with Bridget Dinglasan.
3.  Sept 20th-22nd - Marriage Retreat, needed 1 more couple as of Sunday
           to sign up to round out the rooms we have reserved.  If you want to attend
           please see Kathy Brown.
