Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests

Here are our prayer requests for this week:
 
1.  Jernigan's - Elizabeth will be having a c-section today to deliver their baby,
           pray for a smooth delivery, a quick recovery for Mom and an easy
           adjustment to having 3 boys.
2.  Nancy - Nick Casey's mom, whom we have been praying for her health, is now
          bedridden.  Please continue to pray for healing and recovery.
3.  Skyler - Bowe's foster baby is having stomach issues and they believe he is
            teething and the family is not getting much sleep.  Pray for easing of his
            symptoms and for rest for him and the family.
4.  Cindy Floyd - will be camp nurse for a group of high schoolers.  Pray for
               safety for all.
5.  Daniels Family - we had been praying for their grandmother who has now
             gone to be with the Lord.  Pray for softening of hearts towards the
             gospel during this time.
6.  Dr. Smith - client of Gayle's who is a medicaid doctor and due to issues
                 beyond Gayle or Dr. Smith's control, her claims for the last month
                 have not been able to be filed.  Dr. Smith also suffers from
                 depression.  Pray God's intervening on the issue of filing her claims
                 and for healing from her depression.
7.  Isabel - Beth Lessner's grandmother is doing well, continued prayer for her
                  recovery.
8.  Diane - Bridget's Mom, lumps have been found, pray that these are benign.
9.  Jean - Rheta Teresko's Mom, they are currently looking for rehab facilities. 
                 Pray for her continued recovery.
10.  Harold Lessner - surgery coming up soon, pray everything goes well and for
                his recovery.
11.  Faye - Robin Bowe's grandmother, 3rd pacemaker is now failing and
               insurance will not cover replacement until it completely fails.  Pray
               for her health until the pacemaker can be replaced.
