Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests

Here are our prayer requests for this week:
 
1.  Kay - Kirsten Collison's mom, has a lot of stress (financial, emotional, etc.) and
              she will be staying with Kirsten for a little while.  Pray for Kay, but also for
              the entire family.
2.  Shelly Goff's Dad - needs surgery on his heart, but has declined the surgery. 
              He is redeemed and comfortable with his decision.  Pray for healing, but
              also for her Mom as caregiver and the entire family.
3.  Isabel - Beth Lessner's grandmother, foot surgery.  Pray for healing and
               recovery, but also for Beth as she is still in Maryland.
4.  Lindsey - Beegee and Kathy's daughter had a very important interview on
               Sunday afternoon.  Pray that the interview went well and for God's will.
5.  Mission Trips - Boston, Haiti and the 2nd Ukraine team.
6.  Gayle and her sister - lots of issues with their computers and problems getting
                claims filed for their clients.  Issues can negatively impact their income
                for the next several months.  Pray for a quick repair of the computers
                (and minimal cost) and the issues to be quickly resolved for filing their
                clients claims.
 
Praises:
 
1.  Alyson's daughter's financial aid came through.
2.  Boy Scout's made it home safely despite the flooded roads.
 
Reminders:
 
1.  July 19th-20th - Breakfast/Lunch for the Live.Love.Serve Medical Clinic
2.  July 20th - 3rd Saturday, new roof starting at no later than 8 AM, part of
                  our Live.Love.Serve project and also canvasing the neighborhood
                 around Olive Branch to raise awareness about upcoming event at
                Olive Branch.
3.  Sept 20th-22nd - Marriage Retreat, balance of $ 250 due 8/15.
