Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests

Hope your week is going well.  Below are our prayer requests for this week:
 
1.  Middle School Mission Camp - prayers for safety and spiritual growth.
2.  Ken Smith - Angela Casey's brother, we began praying for him last week, but he has now been arrested and will more than likely spend time in prison.  Pray for him and for the family.
3.  Nancy - Nick Casey's mom, she is very ill.  Pray for healing.
4.  Charlie Yokley's Mom - we have been praying over her breathing problems.  She has been referred to another specialist.  Pray that this specialist will take her problem seriously and help her and for healing.
5.  Isabel - Beth Lessner's Grandmother, has an infection in her foot and may lose part or all of her foot.  Pray for healing.
6.  Betty - Harold Lessner's Mom, was in a car accident.  Pray for her recovery.
7.  We have been praying for Rainey, a friend of the Terrill's with cancer and he lost his battle last week.  Please be in prayer for his Wife and their family.
8.  Ukraine Mission Team 6/20-6/29, be in prayer on your assigned day, praying for safety and advancing of the gospel through the work the team will be doing.  From our class, Allen, Avery, Nick, Colton and Amanda are on the team. 
 
Praises:
 
1.  Charlie Yokley's Dad is recovering from severing his fingers and they are working well!
2.  Shelly Goff has a new part-time position with Growing Child Pediatrics.
3.  Christopher graduated!
4.  Gary received positive results from an ultrasound.
5.  3rd Saturday was a blessing to Tess as she walked the neighborhood with Miss Annie, making connections.
 
Reminders:
 
1.  6/29 - Big Ed's for the guys, meet at RCCC at 8 AM for carpooling or at Big Ed's at 8:30 AM.
2.  7/19-7/20 - we will be assisting with food service for the Live.Love.Serve Medical Clinic for Breakfast and Lunch, need volunteers and food donations.
3.  Sept 20-22 - Marriage Retreat, $ 50 non-refundable deposit, $ 300 per couple plus materials.
4.  Olive Branch VBS - Tess was looking for volunteers for service tonight (6/20), if you are available, touch base with her.
