Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests

Here are our prayer requests for this week:
1.  Allyson's daughter Katherine is graduating, pray for guidance and direction for her.
2.  Allyson's other daughters are traveling for the graduation, pray for travel mercies.
3.  Rainey - friend of the Terrill's with cancer, is now on Hospice.  Pray for him and for his family.
4.  Ken Smith - going through a divorce, has drug issues, pray for strength as he struggles through each of these.
5.  Nancy - Nick's Mom is very ill, pray for healing and recovery.
6.  Lexi - Mike & Helen Brown's daughter graduating this week.  Pray for wisdom for her future endeavors.
7.  Tori - Mike & Helen's daughter did not make the hockey team.  Pray for clarity for what she should do next and for peace despite the disappointment. 
8.  Shelly Goff -possible position with Conner's doctor regarding advising for homeschooling families.  Pray for clarity.
Praises:
1.  Glenn Goff made it home safely after 2 weeks of travel and he also go the promotion he had been promised!
Reminders:
1.  6/15 - our next 3rd Saturday.
2.  6/29 - Big Ed's for the guys.  Carpool from RCCC at 8, or meet there at 8:30
3.  9/20-9/22 - Marriage retreat at Ridgecrest, $ 300 per couple (plus materials),
             $ 50 non-refundable deposit due.
