Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests


Hope everyone is having a great week.  Below are our prayer requests for this week:
 
1.  Charlie Yokley's Mom - difficulty breathing, will more than likely need surgery.  Pray for restoration of her breathing.
2.  Vaughn Brown - decisions to be made, pray for wisdom.
3.  Joe - Jonathan Judy's Dad, x-ray of his lungs indicates a spot, but will need further procedure to determine what it is.  Pray that the spot turns out to be something benign.
4.  Woodward Family - were preparing to adopt twins from Africa and one of the children died from malnutrition.  Pray for this family as they deal with this loss.
5.  Sissy Caudle's Mom - in ICU, pray for healing.
6.  Ron - neck surgery, also having other struggles.  Pray for the surgery to go well and for wisdom in his other struggles.
7.  Bowe's Foster kids - older kids have a court date this week to being the process of terminating parental rights.  Pray for wisdom for the courts and peace for the kids and Sam & Robin.
8.  Lauren Howard - decisions to be made about her school enrollment, pray for wisdom.
9.  Heather - the young lady who works at our gym who is fostering 3 girls.  The birth mom has petitioned the court for a hearing tomorrow to regain custody.  Their normal caseworker is out of town.  Pray for wisdom for the courts and for the girls and Heather.
10.  Dorris Hufstetler - was going to travel to see her sister in Florida and had a panic attack and could not get on the plane.  She has been struggling with her mental health and as a result of these issues and the panic attack, has been readmitted to a mental health facility.  Pray for recovery of her mental health and for her daughter Leslie and her family as they struggle through the situation.

1.  Praise for the Preschool Teachers/Leaders at RCCC.
2.  The Merritt's announced a new grandbaby is on the way.
3.  Praise for the Asperger's support group that Conner Goff has been attending.  He has found someone older that he can relate to and it has been a great experience for him and the family.
