Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests


Thought I would get an early start this week.  Below are our prayer requests for this week:
 
1.  Shelly Goff - sick with a cold.  Pray for her recovery.
2.  Jeri Martin - Rob's mom, continued prayer for her struggles with her memory.  Also pray for his sister, Dawn, who is the primary care giver for their mom.
3.  Ashley Martin - making college visits, decisions to be made.  Pray for wisdom.
4.  Mike Brown - will be having knee surgery later this month.  Pray for the a positive outcome and a speedy recover.
5.  Yvette - praise and prayer, their son's friend called and asked to come to church with them today. 
6.  Dr. John Ewert - leaving for Brazil.  Pray for safety and fellow plane passengers for him to discuss the gospel with.
7.  Liles' Family - friend of Sean Smith whose father passed away.  Prayer for peace and comfort during this time of loss.
 
Praises:
 
1.  Ariana - Bridget and Archie's daughter was accepted into the Radiography program at Wake Tech.
2.  Conner - Mike & Helen Brown's grandson, contracted C-Diff and was in the hospital.  He is now home.
3.  Bowes' Family - an unspoken prayer within the family was answered.

1.  3/23 - Krispy Kreme by way of Big Ed's for the guys.  Meet at RCCC at 8 AM to carpool or at Big Ed's at 8:30.
2.  3/30 - Easter Block Party - many area's where we can help make this a blessing for the community.  Get plugged in!
