Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests


Here are our prayer requests for this week:

1.  Jim Howard - missed Sunday due to illness, pray that he is recovering.
2.  Paula - Jodi Duffield's sister-in-law, the twins were born, which is a praise, but they also have a 9 month old at home, and Paula can not lift the 9 month old due to the c-section.  Pray for her recovery and for the family as they adjust to the new little ones.
3.  Friend of Sean Smith, Mike, his dad was on life support, but they removed the life support Sunday.  Pray for this family as they come to grips with the lose.
4.  Glenn Goff - traveling all week, pray for traveling mercies.
5.  Sydney - Beegee & Kathy's granddaughter is breach and the doctors are going to attempt to flip her externally, if they can not then Lindsay will have a c-section.  Pray for Mom and baby.
6.  Clay - shoulder surgery on Monday, pray the surgery went well and he is recovering.
7.  Amy Dinno - I am asking that you add my Dad, Dale to your prayer list..  On Monday he is going into surgery to have an acoustic neuroma (benign tumor) removed.  It is a serious surgery as the tumor is on his hearing nerve and pushing on the brain stem.  I will be leaving on Saturday for Michigan to be with my parents.  I am asking for prayers for the surgeons involved and recovery for my Dad. 


Praises:

1.  DNow - great to see the youth so engaged, what a wonder blessing to all those involved.
2.  Noah Bowes - accepted Christ as his Lord & Savior!
3.  Walker Smith - accepted Christ as his Lord & Savior!
4.  Jessica Howard - heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time.

Reminders:

1.  Converting Hearts - food drive, bring non-perishables for the next 2 Sundays.  The Blum's will be collecting our donations.
2.  Converting Hearts - love offering this Sunday to help them with purchasing books for their curriculum.  Stop by the ATM Saturday and come ready to give!
3.  Community Groups - anyone interested in joining a community group, please complete the forms provided and return to Colleen Blum.  
4.  3/16 - our first 3rd Saturday of 2013.  Join us at Olive Branch Baptist in Wake Forest, at 9:30 AM
5.  3/23 - Krispy Kreme with Big Ed's appetizers for the guys.  Meet at RCCC at 8 AM or at Big Ed's at 8:30 AM.  Let Beegee know if you will need to carpool from RCCC.
