Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests


Praying that his finds you having a peaceful week.  Below are our prayer requests for this week:

1.  D-Now Host Homes - pray that everything will go smoothly for the families involved.  Pray for a moving of the Holy Spirit within the young people attending.  
2.  Austin Hull - relative of Jim Howard, cutoff his left thumb, it was reattached, but he is still in rehab to learn to use it again.  He is a mason, which requires that he works with his hands, pray for healing and recovery.
3.  Rob Martin's Mom - continued prayer, decisions were made 2 weekends ago, concern that she will not remember those decisions regarding her care.
4.  Merritt's son is getting married...neither the groom nor the bride has lived on their own, so pray they will be prepared.  Also, if anyone has household items they would be willing to donate, let Renae know.  
5.  Chris Howard - Psoriatic Arthritis is getting better, but she still has limitations, pray for continued recovery.
6.  Lisa - coworker of Jodi Duffield's Mom, who has been trying to adopt for a number of years.  Had a baby for just one week and the birth mother took the baby back.  Lisa and her husband are devastated, pray for this family as they work through this loss.  Pray for Jodi's mom that she might be given wisdom how to comfort them.

Praises:

1.  Rob Martin - Mom's doctor visit went well and decisions were made.
2.  Roberta & Kenneth - Clay's parents have been married for 60 years.


Reminders:

1.  3/10 - Daylight Savings Time Begins (don't be an hour late to small group!)
2.  3/16 - our first 3rd Saturday of 2013.  Meet at Olive Branch Baptist at 9:30 AM
3.  3/23 - Big Ed's for the guys (with a side of Krispy Kreme), meet at RCCC at 8 for carpooling or at Big Ed's at 8:30.
5.  4000Steps - walkathon for First Choice Pregnancy Support, 4/27, need leaders, walkers, each participate to raise $ 100/person.
