Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests


Hope everyone is doing well this week.  Below are our prayer requests for this week:

1.  Austin - neighbor of Sean & Hope Smith, went to the hospital with chest pains and shortness of breath.  Pray that this was not a cardiac event and for healing so this will not happen again.
2.  Ray Harris - co-worker of Allen Smith, his Father-in-Law passed away.  Pray for comfort for the family.
3.  Gupton Family and Jeff & Beverly Gardner - death of a family member.  Pray for comfort.
4.  Donovan - Jen Yokley's Uncle, had a biopsy on his esophagus, pray the results come back normal.
5.  Mary - Tess Wilkinson's sister, looking to move to Raleigh and in need of a job.  Pray for opportunities.
6.  Cheryl - family member of Katie Powers, has colon cancer.  Pray for healing if it be God's will.
7.  Dan Duffield - job situation, pray for wisdom.
8.  Michael - Charlie Yokley's Mother-in-Law's Boyfriend's son, has an infection in his shoulder.  Has drug issues and Dad (Howard) is in denial.  Michael professes salvation.  Pray for healing of the infection and the addiction.
9.  Avery Goff - Ukraine mission trip funding needed, $ 2k by May 15th.  Pray for this need and how you might be able to help.
10.  Brian - Duffield's neighbor, had heart attack.  Having stint put in and will be going home soon.  Pray for recovery, but also that this will draw him to God.
11.  Hercules - please pray for Archie Dinglasan’s brother, Hercules.  We found out late Monday night that 5 of his 6 arteries are blocked.  He went in for surgery on Tuesday at 10:30 our time.  He is not saved.
12. John and Misty Brown's daughter is had her adnoids taken out Sunday.

Praises:

1.  Heather - Scott Blum's niece, heart is now responding positively and the doctor's have been able to scale back the heart pump.  Pray for continued recovery and healing.
2.  Mike & Helen Brown's daughter's hockey team is going to Nationals.  Praise for the acknowledgement of their accomplishments, prayer for funding to cover the trip and safety.
