Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests

Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your ears!  Thought I would start with something different to see who is paying attention.

Below are our prayer requests for this week:

1.  Teresa - Chris Howard's Aunt, she is diabetic, in need of a kidney transplant.  Pray how the family can support her.  She is a believer.
2.  Sylvie - and her husband, Michael.  Sylvie has stage 4 cancer and neither of them are believers.  Pray God will use this to bring them both to Him and for healing for her.
3.  Shelly Goff's Grandfather - does not recall decision to move.  Pray for Shelly's Mom as she struggles with his care and for opportunities for her to discuss his decision to accept Christ, given the fact that he is struggling with his memory.
4.  The Bowes  - Sam and Robin have a new baby in the house, sibling of the other kids they are currently fostering.  Mom was on drugs and the baby has been weened off the drugs, but pray for the baby's health and for each of these children as the process is moving forward to sever parental rights.  Also pray for Sam & Robin as they care for the new baby.
5.  Dorris Huffstetler - mental stability has taken a big hit, but she is presently in a facility.  Just not sure how long she will voluntarily stay.  Pray for healing of her mental state and for her daughter, son-in-law and grandson.
6.  Jim & Jimmy Howard were traveling Sunday to see the 49'ers beat the Falcons.  We prayed they would be safe in their travels.
