Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests


Here are our prayer requests for this week:

1. Denise English - Gayle's sister, having a biopsy on the her breast today.  Pray that the biopsy comes back benign.
2.  Karen - wife of Jodi Duffield's cousin, both she and their 3 year old daughter were badly burned in a kitchen accident.  Daughter is home now, but Karen was overdoing it trying to take care of her.  Pray she will rest and that both will continue to heal and recover.
3.  Shelly Goff - possible bronchitis, pray for recovery.
4.  Harold Lessner - surgery this week on the nerves in his arm.  Pray the surgery goes well and he recovers feeling in his fingers.
5.  Katie Powers - having a cataract removed Thursday, pray everything goes well and she recovers quickly.  Keep her on your prayer list for her on-going health issues.


Praises:

1.  Jodi's cousin's daughter Mikaela came home from the hospital.
2.  The Brown's son Vaughn met with Pastor Jim and it has changed his perspective on Pastors and he came home and started making some concrete decisions for his future.
3.  The Goff's oldest kids turned 16 & 18 this past week!
4.  Scott Blum's Niece Heather might be leaving the hospital this week!  Continued prayer for her recovery.
