Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests


Prayer Request

1.       Brown Family – Friend of family lost baby at 10 weeks. Praying for her and her boyfriend, who are struggling with relationship during this tragedy. (Vaughn)
2.       Chris Howard – Prayer for safe return of parents from their visit.
3.       Hope and Sean Smith– Daughter Hailey has walking pneumonia. Pray for healing and comfort.
4.       Goff Family – Pray for Shelly who is under the weather.
5.       Jenifer Yokley – Prayer for Charlie’s grandmother and aunt.
6.       Merritt Family – Prayer for nephew and friend that work in protective service for our embassies and consulates. (Anthony and Mason). The plight of these heroes must be remembered for their service to our country, their time in harm’s way and their ability to fit back in to the routines of normal life upon their return home.
7.     Gail West - my sister Denise called and told me that they were working her into today for the repeat mammogram.   Her friend is being buried on Thursday morning so when she called to reschedule they wanted to work her in.  Please keep her and the results in your prayer

8.     Denise English - Gayle's sister, has been called back in for a second mammogram on Thursday.  Pray that  there are no issues.  
9.     Durham Family - family of a friend of Gayle's sister who just passed away (only in her mid-fifties).  Pray for peace & comfort for the family.

2.       Sean Smith – Successful neck surgery and relief from pre-op symptoms
3.       Chris Howard’s - Praise for parents visit. Also their daughter-in-law…happy to be in class for first time “married”.
