Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests


Below are our prayer requests for this week:

1.  Charlie Yokley's Aunt - having a lumpectomy on Thursday.  Pray the surgery goes well and for her recovery.  
2.  Charlie Yokley's Grandmother - has terminal liver disease and Charlie will be traveling to Tallahassee Friday to visit with her.  Pray for comfort for
             his Grandmother and safety in travels for him.
3.  Sean Smith - recent trip to Canada was an eye-opener to the number of unchurched people in Canada.  Pray for those lead to share the Gospel and for
             salvation for the people of Canada.
4.  Chuck - flying to Orlando on Friday, staying overnight, flying back Saturday morning.  Pray for safety in my travels.
5.  Dan Duffield - in a stressful situation at his new job, working long hours with little sleep.  Pray for rest, pray for wisdom.

2.  Denise English - Gayle's sister.  Biopsy came back benign!
3.  Jodi Duffield - praise that she was able to share the true meaning of Christmas with James' class and for the teacher who was open to her presentation!
