Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests


Here are our prayer requests for this week:

1.  Clay Farris - found a Bible for his Muslim neighbor.  Pray for best opportunity for Clay to present the Bible to the neighbor.
2.  Clay Farris - needs to find a Bible for his Atheist/Vietnamese neighbor.  Pray one will be found before their departure.
3.  Jimmy Howard - has the shingles, on medication and is back at work, pray they will healed.
4.  Rainey - friend of the Power's, has cancer and we have been praying for him.  A spot has now been found on his lung.  He is current taking Chemo.
              Pray God is glorified, and if it be His will, for healing.
5.  Pam Eubanks - has sick kids at home, pray for healing.  Also, she will be taking her Mom and 2 Aunts to South Carolina to see their brother who
              is sick.  He is not saved and they plan to present the gospel to him in the hopes that he will receive.  Pray for his heart to be open and for 
              boldness on their part.
6.  Heather - Scott Blum's niece.  She is pregnant and was rushed to the hospital with her heart rate way to high.  She is in the CCU.  Will be having a
            procedure on her heart.  Pray for Heather, her baby and the family.
7.  Clay - Praise that in sharing his faith, an 85 year old customer accepted Christ!  Another client they have been working with, Fred, is not wanting to do
                the right thing.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to come upon Fred.
8.  Hope Smith - out sick, pray for healing.
9.  Sean Smith - neck surgery on 11/15 to correct previous neck surgery.  Pray the surgery goes well and is a success.
10.  Dennis - Sean's boss, his father passed away, Sean reached out with scripture to comfort him and he was receptive.  Pray for opportunity to 
             discuss salvation.
11.  Stacy Farris - with their departure drawing near, she wants one last opportunity to speak with a former client about Jesus.  Pray this is God's will and
              that He will intervene.
12.  India Mission Trip - both Harry Terrill and Traci Judy will be going on this trip.  11/11 thru 11/22.  Pray for safety for the team and boldness to proclaim
               the truth.
13.  Adam Haman - was the representative, who worked with Bridgett, for our paper goods supplier at the Church.  He was 39 and had a heart attack 
              and passed away, leaving a wife and 2 young children.  Pray for God's peace to be with this family during this very difficult situation.
14.  Vaughn - Mike & Helen Brown's son.  He is back living at home and agreed to the rules outlined for his return.  He has agreed to meet with Pastor Jim. 
               Pray for the meeting to take place and for Vaughn's heart to be receptive.

Praises:

1.  Clay Farris - with their imminent departure, he has had final opportunities to have open conversations with clients about Christ.
2.  RCCC - Jodi Duffield lifts up praise for the prayer time during the 1st hour on Sunday.  
3.  Rose Greene - praise for everyone who stepped up and provided meals for Rose and Mike.
4.  Chuck - Praise that Sean Smith (our resident responsible adult) has stepped up to take the prayer requests the Sunday after Thanksgiving (Gayle and
           I, and Gracie, will be out of town with family).
