Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests


Here are our prayer requests for this week:

1.  Kreg - person that Clay Farris is replacing.  Clay had an opportunity to discuss the Gospel with him and his beliefs are "out there".  Pray God to speak truth into his life.
2.  The Bowes' - everyone has been sick and Robin has it for a 2nd time and Haley had her tonsils removed and a procedure on her sinuses and she is really hurting.  Pray for healing for the whole family.
3.  Heather - Scott Blum's niece.  Doctors completed 2 procedures on her heart, but they did not work, so Saturday, they put a heart pump in.  They are hopeful that over time, the pump will help correct the problem.  They are not sure how all of this has affected the baby.  Pray for Heather and the baby.  Also, pray for Scott's brother and the rest of his family - salvation.
4.  Lynetta - Pedro's mom.
5.  Jodi's cousin's wife, Karen, and 3 year old daughter, Mikaela, were hurt in a kitchen accident and now have severe burns.  Mikaela was to have a skin graft, but that has been postponed and she is on ventilator and has had to have a pic line and an arterial line.  She is resting but needs our prayers.
6.  Jodi Duffield - traveling later this week, pray for safety and pray for Dan while he is at home alone with the boys.
7.  Shelly Goff's Mom - pray for wisdom in handling her Grandfather.  He now wants to drive and is not capable of driving.  
8.  Mark O'Day - slipped and fell late last Friday night and hit his head.  Was alone for 5 hours and then rushed to the hospital.  He is awake, but obviously will have a long road of recovery.  Pray for healing and recovery.
9.  Friend of Roxanne & Pedro's - she is homeless, spent some time in NY in a bad relationship, is now trying to get back to Atlanta.  Needed shelter and the kids took to the internet and found her a shelter...pray for long-term shelter and a changed life.
10.  Chase & Dillon - a new part of Sean Smith's family, struggling with addiction.  Pray for wisdom in how Sean needs to approach them (since in their words they have heard it all).
11.  India Mission Team - Harry Terrill and Traci Judy from our class are on the team.  Remember your chosen day to pray!
12.  Patti Terrill is sick, pray for healing and recovery.
12.  Dorris Huffstettler - struggling with depression and doctors have been unable to regulate her medication.  Continuing to struggle with unemployment and issues related to the mortgage on her home.  Pray her depression comes under control and pray for peace during this difficult time.

Praise:

1.  Hope Smith is feeling better!
2.  Clay Farris' Muslim neighbor accepted the Bible Clay gave him and asked how to get answers to questions.
