Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests

Here are our prayer requests for this week (sorry for the delay):  

1.  Jimmy Howard & Jessica - getting married in November, but since Jessica is now staying with the Howard's they are having to adjust to living together a little early.  Pray that the transition goes well.
2.  Biddle's - Father & Son were riding motorcycles in S. California and the son was hit by a car and died.  Dad saw the whole thing.  Pray for God's peace for this family.
3.  Neighbor's of the Farris' - husband is an atheist, wife a buddhist, daughter having health issues.  Clay has found Bibles translated in their native language.  Pray a movement of the Holy Spirit in this family and for healing for their daughter.
4.  Converting Hearts - prayer for men to step forward and be mentors for the men leaving the program.
5.  Mrs Powell - neighbor of the Knights, carpal tunnel in both hands and had recent surgery on one of her hands.  Pray for healing and that the pain will be removed.
6.  Sabrina - toddler who was recently killed.  Pray for strength for the family.
7.  Mom of child at Rising Star Academy - single mom, homeless and having to move from church to church for shelter.  Pray she will find stable housing.
8.  Paul Eubanks - has possible torn rotator cuff.  Pray for healing.
9.  Tori Brown was in Cleveland Ohio for a game.  Pray for them to do well.
10.  Stacy Farris - hormone changes with pregnancy, pray for mom to be calm with the other kids.  

Praises:  

1.  Sean Smith - opportunities to share his faith at work.
2.  Pedro Knight - high school boys won 2 tournaments, came in second overall.
3.  Goff's - daughter passed driver's ed
4.  Sam Frye - football team is doing really well.
