Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests

Below are our prayer requests for this week:  

1.  Julian Family - coworker of Rob Martin's whose son has been asking questions about God.  Pray the family will separate belief from "religion" and the spirit will continue to move in this family.
2. Jenny - member at the Judy's old church with down syndrome.  Family and friends are in a very public struggle over her care.  Pray they will set aside their differences and put what's best for her above all else.
3.  Glen Goff - job opportunity, pray for wisdom in the decisions to be made.
4.  English Family - health and financial issues, pray for healing and restoration.
5.  Promise Community Church - the Goff's old church, struggling and Shelley's family is now leaving the church.  Pray for restoration within this body of believers.
6.  Glen Goff - teaching at Converting Hearts this week, pray God will use Glen and lives will be touched.
7.  Andrew Duffield - struggling with school and other issues, pray for decisions that need to be made. 8.  Claudine Synder - wisdom as she prepares for the Women's Conference.
9.  Ashley Martin - involved in lots of extracurricular activities and struggling to find the time for everything.  Pray for wisdom in her decision making.
10. Charles West - at the picnic Sunday I was playing with the kids and injured my leg.  Turns out to be a tear on one of my calf muscles, which is a blessing, but please pray for a speedy recovery.   

Praises:  

1.  The Merritt's are moving this weekend, into their official new home!
2.  Rob Martin - Happy Birthday!
3.  19 year old neighbor of the Teresko, underwent a treatment overseas and is now in remission from cancer.
4.  Steve Teresko - 16 years at his current job.
5.  Dan Duffield - was in wreck, but no one was hurt.
6.  Pam Lister - praise the Lord for all of His many blessings.
