Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests

Here are our prayer requests for this week:
  
1.  Lynetta Wilson - Pedro's Mom, continued prayer for her and for the family.
2.  Rainey - had surgery to remove the tumor on Monday, pray for recovery.
3.  Dan Duffield - new job, different schedule, pray for the family to be able to adapt.
4.  Clay Farris - work situation, layoffs, much going on, pray for opportunities to have conversations about whats important.
5.  Jones Family - Jimmy passed away and the funeral was Sunday, pray for peace for the family.
6.  Patti Terrill - cut nerve in her finger, having micro surgery to repair.  Pray the surgery goes well and she recovers well.
7.  Rochelle - lady we repaired the deck for.  Needs a job, pray opportunities will open up.
8.  Jodi Duffield's Mom - having surgery this week.  Pray the surgery goes well and she recovers well. 9.  Rising Star's basketball season has started - pray for good Christian mentoring and opportunities to share Christ's love.
10.  Rising Star's new music program - pray God's provision that every child will be able to participate, despite the cost.  

Praises:  

1.  The Duffield's several trips to West Virginia went well.
2.  Heather, Mike & Helen Brown's daughter had her baby on 8/29 and both Mom and baby are healthy.
3.  Tori, Mike & Helen Brown's daughter, playing travel hockey and they were concerned about the cost, but Mike is coaching and he will be getting a stipend, which will help cover the cost.
4.  Middle School Kitchen Mentoring, first session went very well.
5.  Last weekend of the month the Merritt's are moving!
