Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise/Prayer Requests

Below are our prayer requests for this week:

1.  Jennifer French Family - young mother who passed away, two very young children.  Prayer for her parents to be able to obtain custody of the kids.
2.  Ken - Matt Mercer's dad, fell and has facial injuries.  Pray for recovery.
3.  Marjorie - Matt Mercer's mom will be having a heart procedure.  Pray everything goes well.
4.  Will Martin - neurologist appointment this week, pray it goes well.
5.  Ashley, Emily, Becca, Mallory and Stacy - NRCA mission trip to Key West.  Pray for safety.
6.  Cameron - mission trip to Canada, pray for safety.
7.  Jordan Family - cyclist who was killed on 401.  Pray for his wife Angela and their sons.
8.  Charles - Ethan Terrill's friend, was staying with them, but has left now.  He is really struggling.  Signed up for the Air Force, but is not in a position to follow-through.  Pray he can legally back out and for him to get his life back in order. 
9.  Jimmy Howard - had final interview for new position this week.  Pray everything went well and the outcome will be positive.
10.  John - kidney transplant.
11.  Teresa Smith and Daryl Caudle's mom - had breast cancer surgery and it recovering.  Pray for her continued recovery and healing.
12.  Matt - co-worker of Allen Smith, his mom had 2 aneurysms, on ruptured during surgery.  Pray for healing and recovery.
13.  Gladys Carter - 95 year old, in her final days.  Pray for comfort for her and peace for her family. 14.  Bobby Baines - Anthony Liles' stepfather, has been battling cancer for 7 years and is now declining.  He asked that we pray for him.
15.  Jeff Cullina - high school friend of Dan Ferrante, has a brain tumor that is growing and he has been told he only has a short time.  He has young children.  Not sure if he is saved, so pray for salvation, but also pray he will be able to enjoy what time he has left.
