Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests

Hope your 2014 is off to a great start.  Below are our prayer requests for this week:

1.  Continued prayers for Judson Baptist Church
2.  Glen Goff in Toronto this week, prayers for a safe trip and return
3.  Eva - prayers for recovery from surgery
4.  Ron - nodule on thyroid, prayers that it will be benign.
5.  Paula - cancer reoccurred, prayers for her and her husband Eric.
6.  Dan Duffield - continued prayer for job opportunity
7.  Ann - husband died suddenly, they have a 16 year old daughter, prayers for this family
8.  Sheila & Victor - missionaries coming home due to illness (Sheila's adrenal gland, children
               are sick), prayers that they will be able to make the long flight back and that they
               will receive the care they need.
9.  Duffields - school decisions for Phillip and Andrew, Andrew shadowed another student
                       just yesterday.
10.  Ronnie & Candi Critz - neighborhood was hit by the storm last weekend.
11. Stephen Snyder - reorganization coming at work that will affect his position.
12.  Family whose Grandmother passed away and they were traveling to be with the family,
              prayers for safety.
13.  Nicole - Co-worker of Shelly Goff, husband was electrocuted by their Christmas tree prior
            to Christmas, recurrence of breast cancer.
14.  Pat Stillman - Sean Smith's aunt, less than a year in remission and they have found 3 new
              cancer spots, treatment began this week
15.  Sean Smith - unspoken
16.  Dillon King - prayer that he will make better choices and for his sobriety.
17.  Sean Smith - prayer for spirit of abiding in 2014 and beyond.
18.  Lisa - coworker of mine, is separating from her husband due to bad choices he has made. 
            Prayers that the Holy Spirit will speak through me. 

Praises:

1.  Pam Lister - is continuing to talk with her parents and her brother is including her in
             decisions that are being made.  Making progress, continued prayers.

1. 1/25 - group meeting at CCA office at 3 PM, discuss 2014 ministry opportunities

2.  2/15 - Sweetheart Banquet, $ 10 per couple
