Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests


Below are our prayer requests for this week:

1.  Stephen Snyder - having lower back pain, pray for healing/recovery.
2.  Lexy Brown - Mike & Helen's daughter, was in Nashville with her choral group.  She normally gets sick when traveling, so pray she did not get sick 
            (and safe travels).
3.  Heather - young lady from our gym who is fostering 3 young girls.  Pray for Heather and for the girls in the decisions that will need to be made in the
             future.
4.  Donna - friend of John & Misty Brown, 38 years old, had a heart attack and was without oxygen for 30 minutes.  Severe brain damage, they were 
            taking her off life support last night.  Pray for the family during this very difficult time.
5.  Via Family - passing of Chris' grandmother.  
6.  Misty - John and I have an urgent prayer request for a friend that we grew up. Her name is Donna and she is 38 years old. She had a heart attack Monday night and is in critical condition. When she was found, she had been without oxygen for approximately half an hour. She is on life support now - doctors are checking brain waves but there has been little activity. Prayers are needed now for both Donna and her family.  As always, thanks to all the RC Prayer Warriors!!! 
---Update---They are taking her off life support and doctors have don't expect her to last but a couple of hours at most once they take her off life support. Extensive brain damage.

Praises:

1.  Conner Goff - support group went great!
2.  Jessica Howard - no shots will be needed until after the baby is born.  Her risk is only slightly higher than normal.
3.  Eric Frye - secured a new position within Duke, as his old position was going away. 

Reminders:

1.  Keep our 3rd Saturday planning in mind as we will be starting in March.
2.  2/26 - Ladies Night - TBD
3.  3/23 - Big Ed's for the guys.
