Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Praise / Prayer Requests


Here are our prayer requests for this week:
 
1.  The English Family - family struggles, pray for peace and wisdom.
2.  Julie - Jodi Duffield's sister, was in the emergency room last week, currently on a heart monitor, but doctor's cannot figure out what is wrong.  Pray for wisdom for the doctors and for healing.
3.  Wilson Family - Shelly Goff's Aunt passed away.  Also, pray for her grandfather.
4.  Skyler - baby boy that the Bowes' are fostering.  Hearing coming up, pray that his case stays in Wake County and the same judge will preside.
5.  Alexis - Mike & Helen Brown's daughter.  Failed a class for the first time.  Pray for wisdom for her.
6.  Rob Martin's Mom - struggling with dementia, refusing to listen to her children, skipping doctor's appointments.  Rob's sister scheduled an appointment this coming Saturday and Rob will be going with them.  Pray mom will listen and for wisdom for Rob's family.

1.  The parental visit that Skyler was supposed to have last week did not occur.

3/2 - 3 PM at RCCC to discuss our 3rd Saturday plans and missional activities/community groups.
3/16 - our first 3rd Saturday of 2013.
3/23 - Big Ed's for the guys, with a side of Krispy Kreme.
