Black History month in Theology

-----Black History month in Theology------
This year, I want to introduce contemporary theologians. I commend to you the book Glory Road. It is an anthology of writings from outstanding Reformed Evangelical theologians who happen to be black.

-Week 1- writing comes from Thabiti Anyabwile. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 2 - Our journey brings us to Emmanuel Kolini, Archbishop of Rwanda, in the Anglican church. He was instrumental in the explosion of ministry in the North American church. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Week 3 - I want to introduce you to Voddie Baucham, Senior Pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church, Spring, Texas. Here is his article.
-Week 4 - Our final selection of writing comes from Louis C. Love, Jr. He contributed an article entitled "The Doors of the Church Are Opened!" for the book, Glory Road. The following story includes a link to hear him speak about his journey. Enjoy the link to his outstanding article.
-Extra installment - This is an extra installment of our February focus. I have included this article because what Dr. Fred Luter is about to accomplish is enormously significant. He is set to become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Amen and amen!!!!!!!!

Priase/Prayer Requests

Below are our prayer requests for this week:

1.  Victoria - foot broken in 2 places, pray for healing.
2.  Jen Yokley - wisdom teeth were removed, pray for recovery.
3.  Jheryl Knight - having weakness in his knees, waiting on final MRI results.  Weakness maybe stemming from curvature in his spine.  Pray for wisdom in treatment.
4.  Shelley Goff - diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, another medication added, pray for balance in her meds, and no adverse effects.
5.  Mock Family - family we know in Georgia, son committed suicide, left an 8 year old son and a wife trying to recover from an aneurysm.
6.  Stephen Mercer - health issues, needs more tests.
7.  David Tobey - Vicki Frye's nephew having a recurrence of a previous illness.  Pray for healing, his spiritual situation and wisdom for Eric and Vicki.
8.  A friend of Lisa Liles, Caroline Phelps, is having exploratory surgery tomorrow to investigate the extent of a recurrence of cancer.  Please pray for the procedure and favorable results.

Praises:

1.  Shelley Goff - home school convention was great and it was a blessing to be around like minded people.
2.  Rising Star Academy - sports program is going well and God is blessing the kids.
